چکیده

ORGANOHALOGEN COMPOUNDS – Volume 66 (2004) 138 Introduction Polyurethane foam (PUF) samplers are being used in an increasing number of studies to passively sample semivolatile organic compounds (SOCs) in the atmosphere (e.g. 1, ). However, recent research shows that the uptake and loss kinetics of passive air samplers is influenced by changes in wind speed . According to theory, the rate of chemical exchange between the sampler and atmosphere can be limited by the thickness of the air-side boundary layer. If this is the case then an increase in wind speed can reduce the thickness of the boundary layer resulting in higher rates of exchange. The loss of performance reference compounds (PRCs) loaded into the sampler prior to deployment should reflect exposure to different wind speeds at different sites.

Sampling gaseous oxidation products of aromatic compounds in gas/particle separation systems.

In this study we performed a direct comparison between two different ambient air samplers to characterize their performance in sampling oxidized gaseous organic compounds, known as oxidation products of aromatics. We investigated compounds with a variety of functional groups and vapor pressures. A polyurethane foam (PUF) adsorbent and an annular diffusion denuder sampler were operated along wit...

A New methods for determination of airborne pollutants

The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods for sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated fl ame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fi ber fi lter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ...

Performance of High Flow Rate Samplers for Respirable Particle Collection

The American Conference of Governmental Industrial hygienists (ACGIH) lowered the threshold limit value (TLV) for respirable crystalline silica (RCS) exposure from 0.05 to 0.025 mg m(-3) in 2006. For a working environment with an airborne dust concentration near this lowered TLV, the sample collected with current standard respirable aerosol samplers might not provide enough RCS for quantitative...

Physical separation of amphiprotic-polar aprotic solvents for simultaneous extraction and clean-up of clomiphene from plasma before liquid chromatographic analyzes

An efficient and quantitative two phase freezing (TPF) method coupled with high performance liquid chromatography and UV-Vis detector was developed for the extraction, clean up and determination of clomiphene citrate (CLC) in plasma samples. The separation of two miscible solvents by TPF method permits that the CLC was efficiently removed from proteins and transferred into the relative aprotic ...
